Calixto Valenti was born in Barcelona on December 20 1943. He is descended from a silversmith family. His father Fernando Valenti Clua, was also born in Barcelona and his mother, Trinidad Robert Martí, was born in Sitges. From 1965 he started working with his father in the Valenti Company. In 1969 he founded Varo SA-Valenti of which he still is the largest shareholder. Varo Valenti has become one of the most important Spanish furniture and interior decoration companies. After graduating from the Secondary School of Escola Pia Sarriá (Barcelona) he became Master as Cabinet Maker of the "Confraria de Mesters Fusters de Barcelona". He is also a Numbered Member of the "Col.legi de Decoradors de Barcelona". He is a graduated Member of the "European Council of Interior Architects –ECIA". He followed complementary education in London and Paris for two years. Apart from his mother tongue Spanish,Catalán, he is fluent in English and French and also speaks Italian. In September 2002, in Bucharest Romania, he was elected president of the European Furniture Manufacturers Federation (UEA). He was reelected for the period 2006-2008. In September 2007 in Shanghai he was elected as first president of the World Furniture Confederation. As he’s born in a city near the Mediterranean sea, he is very keen on the marine sports (diving, scuba diving, sailing, radio ham). |
